Nerdfest at the Hammons Home

The Hammons family was recently introduced to a game called Talisman. It is a board game like no other. It is a perilous adventure in a fantastical world of magic and monsters. (It says so in the rule book...) Adam and Seth love Talisman. Rachel has been a good sport about playing and I got my first turn Saturday. Katie has no intrest in being nerdy with us.
Talisman isn't for the faint of heart. Our game lasted HOURS... Seth started out as the thief but died and had to pick another character. I was the Prophetess but at one time was turned into a toad for 3 turns. Seth loved that. Adam was a ghoul because he likes being evil.

Seth is getting quite good at the game. He definately understands it better than I do.

Adam had fun because I usually don't play things like this. He and Seth ganged up on me and stole some of my stuff while Seth was a thief.

I tried to be a good sport but the magical games and movies aren't my thing. It was fun to play with my boys though. The girls both found other things to do during nerdfest...Maybe next time. I can't imagine how long that game would last.

Decade Day!

I never thought I would be crimping hair again, but today was decade day at Rachel's school. She tried many different looks but we ended up with the 80's...
She was told by her teacher to use the blue eye shadow. She put it on really lightly but I helped her understand that to really make that look work, she needed to be dramatic.

I'm so happy that the 80's are over, but it's kind of fun to remember. Go Wildcats!

Happy Birthday Shariana!!!

What a beautiful girl! I was thinking about Shariana this morning because it is her 17th birthday. Man, I can't believe how old I am... Anyway, Shariana is my youngest sister and has always been so much fun. We still use phrases that she said when she was little. So many times we say we want to "watch a woobie" instead of watch a movie just because we remember how cute she was when she wanted to watch a woobie that we had already seen a hundred times. I remember being pregnant with Katie and how certain Shariana was that I was having a girl. She knew I was having a girl baby and naming her chomper... She was half-way right on that.

It has been so much fun getting to watch her grow up into someone that I admire.
We are lucky to have Shariana in our family and I hope this year is awesome for her as a 17 year old! Happy birthday Shariana!
